The Walkman Is Back as an Android

I’m not sure why I’m so excited about the Walkman making a reappearance, but I am. And, now that it’s back, it’s way cooler. Sony’s The Walkman NWZ-Z1060 is no music dinosaur, it’s more of an mini-tablet that’s been optimized for your music.

The Walkman has been updated with a built-in S-Master MX amplifier that reportedly supplies an “enriched music experience” and includes audio technology called SenseMe that plays music based on your mood.  Because the Z1060 runs on the Android (Gingerbread) operating system, you have access to Marketplace to all the music, movies, books, games, and apps your heart desires and you view it all on a decent sized 4.3-inch screen. Sony is also jumping onto the cloud bandwagon and offers the Music Unlimited Service to help you share your music and explore new tunes. Worried that it will conflict with iTunes? Don’t be. Files transfer between programs easily. Of course, you have almost any Google app at your disposal, as well.

It won’t be out until the spring, but when it is available, expect the to pay between $250-$330 for 8GB-32GB of storage.
