Alyssa Rose Ivy talks about Flight, the first novel in The Crescent Chronicles series.
What inspired you to use New Orleans as the setting for Flight?
I went to college in New Orleans, and I always said that if I was going to write a paranormal romance it would have to be set there. There is just something about New Orleans that makes you believe that there may just be a supernatural society somewhere under the surface. 🙂
What character was the most fun to write?
I loved writing Levi. As frustrating as he can be, he is also a really cool guy. I love how you never quite know what to expect from him.
When you started writing Flight, did you already have the ending worked out?
Yes. I knew how it had to end from the very beginning. I’ve always planned to make it a series, and I knew where the perfect stopping point would be.
If Flight became a movie, who would you cast?
Allison Williams looks a lot like how I picture Allie. Although he’s in so many dream casts now-a-days, a younger Channing Tatum for Levi.
Do you listen to music while you write? What are some of the songs that helped inspire Flight?
I always listen to music when I write, the two go hand in hand for me. A few songs off the Flight playlist are:
Do you have a specific writing style?
It really depends on the book. I like to use a combination of outlining and just letting the characters lead me.
What point of view do you prefer to write in?
I love first person. I just like the personal feel of it.
What is your favorite young adult novel?
I love the Fable Haven series by Brandon Mull (although the early books border on middle grade).
Are you reading anything right now?
I’m reading Feed by Mira Grant.
What is your favorite paranormal character?
I love shifters in general, and Pterons are my favorite.
