Dystopia:
a hypothetical or otherwise imaginary society, often in the context of a work of fiction (especially one set in a speculative future), characterized by elements that are opposite to those associated with utopia. A dystopia is, therefore, a place in which “people lead dehumanized and often fearful lives”[1] or in which “everything is unpleasant or bad, typically….totalitarian orenvironmentally degraded.” —Wikipedia
There are so many great novels set in dystopian societies, but for this giveaway, I’ve chosen The Host by Stephenie Meyer.
Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away. Our world has been invaded by an unseen enemy. Humans become hosts for these invaders, their minds taken over while their bodies remain intact and continue their lives apparently unchanged. Most of humanity has succumbed.
When Melanie, one of the few remaining “wild” humans, is captured, she is certain it is her end. Wanderer, the invading “soul” who has been given Melanie’s body, was warned about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the glut of senses, the too-vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn’t expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind.
Wanderer probes Melanie’s thoughts, hoping to discover the whereabouts of the remaining human resistance. Instead, Melanie fills Wanderer’s mind with visions of the man Melanie loves – Jared, a human who still lives in hiding. Unable to separate herself from her body’s desires, Wanderer begins to yearn for a man she has been tasked with exposing. When outside forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, they set off on a dangerous and uncertain search for the man they both love.

Simply Infatuated 
Cool! I’ve been wanting to read this book for quite a while. I don’t normally read sci-fi, but I just recently read and reviewed a book called Order of the Dimensions on my blog, which was about as sci-fi as I’ve ever gotten! I think it’s a really interesting genre and I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to get into it!

I am just now getting into reading sci-fi, so I din’t have a favorite yet.
I read from pretty much every genre, so of course I read the occasional sci-fi! 🙂 My favorite is Ashfall.

I read alot of sci fic/fantasy/dystopias. Its hard to pick just one favorite. A recent favorite is The Genecean Chronicles by Monica LaPorta
I haven’t read that much sci-fi yet, but since my library now houses fantasy and sci-fi together, I’ve started to pick them up more often.
I think my favorite sci-fi will always be Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy – I just love the humor in it.

I never considered myself interested in sci-fi but I read Cinder recently and its a little sci-fi-ish and I loved it. Im willing to read almost anything dystopian 🙂 And its by Stephanie Meye whom I think did an amazing job with twilight so I would love to see how she would write anything else. I love the Unwind series by Neal Shusterman. The creepiness and overall realism is just amazing. Not to mention the amazing characters. I also really love how there was a romance, but it was kept in the backseat, like it should. I feel like most dystopians try to put the romance first and the dystopian world is just a means to get the two characters together instead of being the focus. In Unwind, it is the opposite. The world building is amazing and the romance is a small subplot that is fun, but doesn’t get overly soppy.
The Host was actually my first sci-fi novel and I loved it! I’m really freaked out by the idea of aliens, so I was especially hesitant, but it was definitely worth the try! And I’m interested in reading other sci-fi novels now too.

I don’t read much scifi these days, but I used to. I remember loving Ender’s Game when I first read it in the 90’s, and I loved Orson Scott Card’s Lost Boys.

I read some sci-fi…it really depends on the book. I love this book…I read a library copy. I would adore a re-read and a copy for my own.
