‘Shattered Promises’ by Jessica Sorenson

Jessica Sorenson, the author of Ember (one of the books I LOVED in 2012) and The Secret series, has a new book coming out this month. Shattered Promises is a re-imagining of her Fallen Star series as a New Adult series, so there’s smexier scenes with the same awesome characters. If you haven’t read any of the Fallen Star books yet–no worries, you won’t be left behind. This is a stand-alone novel, so if you’re new to the series you’ll catch on and if you’ve read all of the Fallen Star books 100 times, you won’t be confused.

For twenty-one year-old Gemma, life has never been normal. Up until recently, she’s been incapable of feeling emotion. She knows nothing about her past and has been haunted by the same monsters in her nightmares for the last three years. She spends most of her days keeping to herself, friendless, and feeling like there’s so much more to life then loneliness.

Then she meets Alex and her secluded word quickly crumbles. Alex is sexy, arrogant, and makes her feel things she didn’t think were possible. When she’s near him, there’s an electric connection that makes her skin buzz and her inhibitions melt.

But Alex doesn’t seem to share the same feelings and knows more about Gemma’s life then he’s telling her. He pushes her away, and Gemma tries to keep her distance even though it’s the last thing she wants to do.

But when her nightmares become a reality, Gemma’s life turns into a mess. Dangerous secrets keeping popping up around ever corner and the only person she can turn to for help is the one person she isn’t sure she can trust.
