S: Series I Love to Read
While a quality stand-alone story is always an awesome thing, I love me a good series; most of my favorite books are part of one. Lately, there have been quite a few series announcements I’m pretty pumped for.
The Iron Trial A collaboration between Cassandra Clare and Holly Black? Yes, please! I’m already a huge fan of their work. Clare’s Mortal Instruments and Infernal Devices are included on my top series list and I am anxiously awaiting the impending movie (for City of Bones anyway, I guess we’ll see what happens with any ID movies). Black’s Curse Workers series is also a favorite. I live in the Pinelands, so it strikes a very special place in my heart. I adore The Spiderwick Chronicles, too, and read it to my Kindergarteners each year. And, the movie rights have been snapped up by Constantin Films. It will be interesting to see how the two friends write together.
The Dark Artifices Hopefully, the collaboration between Cassandra Clare and Holly Black won’t eat up too much of their time, because Clare has announced another Shadowhunter series. Set in LA, The Dark Artifices will feature new characters who appear to be primarily from the Blackthorne family. Because fans have been clamoring to start fan art already, Clare has posted descriptions of some of the characters.
Of course, there are a slew of soon-to-be-released titles that I’m anxiously awaiting, as well.
Rick Riordan’s Kane Chronicles is a fun spin on his children-of-the-gods thing he’s been working. The Serpent’s Shadow is the next title in the series and is set to hit on May 1st.
Bloodlines, Richelle Mead’s Vampire Academy spin-off series, has its second installment coming out soon, too. Dimitri and Rose fans will be pleased to know that these characters appear in The Golden Lily along Sydney and crew. You can read the first chapter at EW.
